Artist's Statement

Second to family, art has always been a love of mine. Through painting and drawing, I am able to reveal my deep interest in music, inspirational figures from history and the present time, various aspects of life, and the human condition.

I love to create images that tell a story. When people see my work, I want them to think. If you look beyond the stylistic application of paint on a canvas, then you will discover the hidden messages.

This painting was donated to the East Village Art Coalition for a project called "52 Pick-Up." The idea was for each artist to create her/his interpretation of a selected card out of a standard playing deck. My Card of choice was the 7 of Clubs. The project helped raise funding for Visual Arts in Education for the Des Moines Public School System.
